Malone-Hood Plaza
In developing plans to commemorate the events of June 11, 1963, and honor the legacy of Autherine Lucy Foster, Vivian Malone Jones and James Hood, the University invited feedback from faculty, staff, students and the community. The thoughtful and heartfelt responses that were received, both from the open forums and written messages, provided many excellent ideas and were responsible for revisions to the original plan.
The plaza design will create a memorable experience for all who visit and forever symbolize the University we are today — a direct result of that day in 1963 and the courage of the individuals instrumental in our journey.
